Coordinator of Elementary Programs
Gretchen Nabi is the Coordinator of Elementary Programs for Tyler ISD. She oversees
the complete operation of the District’s PreK program as well as the entire Gifted and Talented
program for 17 campuses serving approximately 1,400 students. She also creates,organizes,
and executes the required GT staff development of roughly 1800 staff district wide. In addition to
her central administration role, she also was asked to extend her leadership expertise as the
2021-2022 interim principal of Birdwell Dual Language Immersion School, one of the 4 choice
campuses of innovation in Tyler ISD. Ms. Nabi’s teaching experience began in high school advanced academics, working through the grade levels to 4th grade Sheltered English prior to entering campus leadership roles. Working with students with diverse abilities from diverse backgrounds laid the groundwork
for her passion for access and equity. Her passion for providing access to all students includes
her 8 years as principal of Clarkston Elementary, the Regional Day School Program for the Deaf
for Region 7. Moving into her current role as Coordinator of Elementary Programs, providing
access and equity to Gifted and Talented services to students who meet the state definition as
well as the complete restructuring of the Gifted and Talented Program continues to be her
driving force to achieving that goal. Ms. Nabi has shared her leadership skills and experiences
in speaking engagements across the country including the No Excuses University (NEU)
National Convention in San Diego and Dallas as well as Texas Elementary Principals and
Supervisors Association (TEPSA) Summer Conferences.
